Meet Wayne
Hi, I’m Wayne.
I’m a Youth Employment Mentor, and after spending many years working in hospitality, management, and running my own business, I decided it was time for a change. Working with young people who are just starting out in their careers has been that change — and it’s been incredibly rewarding.
A big part of my role is having real conversations. I love to chat and get to know what people actually enjoy, what they’re good at, and what matters to them. From there, we work out a path toward work or learning that fits them. No two people are the same, so no two journeys look the same either.
Not every story is easy, but when someone takes a positive step forward — especially one that can shape the rest of their life — it’s pretty special to be part of. That’s why I do this work.
I like to joke that I studied at the University of Life. I’ve employed and mentored people of all ages, and while I’m newer to this field, I bring a lot of hands-on, real-world experience. I’m also a dad to three young adults, which has given me plenty of perspective along the way.
This role feels right because the impact goes beyond just one person. Being able to use my experience to help others move forward is what makes it all worthwhile.
